About the Organization :
ACCION International is a private, nonprofit organization with the mission of giving people the financial tools they need – microenterprise loans, business training and other financial services – to work their way out of poverty. A world pioneer in microfinance, ACCION was founded in 1961 and issued its first microloan in 1973 in Brazil. ACCION International’s partner microfinance institutions today are providing loans as low as $100 to poor men and women entrepreneurs in 25 countries in Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia and sub-Saharan Africa, and in the United States.

About the Job :
Working under a contract with ACCION International, and as part of an international technical assistance team, the incumbent will hold the Product Development and Training Specialist position. In this position under the guidance of the Chief Commercial Officer and in close collaboration with the Head of the Department of Human Resources & Administration the incumbent will have the responsibility of formulating, directing and implementing training policies and procedures related to the selection, hiring and training of staff and loan officers in particular. The Product Development and Training Specialist will also play a key role in the development and roll out of new financial product.

Responsabilités :

  • Contribute to the development of a high level of staff productivity and develop a positive corporate culture ;
  • Provide leadership to the training and human resources development area within the organization ;
  • Advise the Chief Commercial Officer in the day-to-day management of training and product development activities ;
  • Play a key role in the development and roll-out of new products ;
  • Responsible for developing and implementing recruitment and training of loan officers and other staff and product development policies and procedures ;
  • Oversee staff development and training ;
  • Participate in the development of a strong corporate culture promoting cooperation, efficiency, service quality, and high ethical standards in the delivery of financial services to the target market ;
  • Set up the hiring and training function for loan officers and other operations staff ;
  • Identify and train a successor.

Compétences/qualifications/expérience :

  • Five plus years of product development and training experience in microfinance institutions or related financial institution ;
  • Knowledge of microfinance operations ;
  • Knowledge of Africa and/or ability to work in an African setting ;
  • Excellent trainer and developer of training materials ;
  • Excellent planning and management on skills ;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills ;
  • Advanced degree in business, a plus ;
  • English and French required. Spanish highly valuable ;
  • Willingness to live in West Africa for the duration of the contract.
