About the Organization :
The International Network of Alternative Financial Institutions (INAFI) was established in Cusco, Peru, in March 1995, as a global network of practitioner microfinance institutions with 25 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) as initial member organizations (MOs), the figure has grown to more than 314 in 2007. INAFI proposes alternative finance that is pro-poor, holistic, and sustainable. It provides a platform of practitioners in microfinance and related areas working on alternative financial systems.

Background :
INAFI joined forces with Oxfam Novib and Ordina to create an efficient system for Social Impact Measurement. INAFI needs a uniform database system to assess social impact and measure performance. The cooperation started with a pilot project, which had a duration of 2 years (2006 and 2007). It brought together 10 MFIs, which are members of INAFI. The project has developed and tested a list of indicators, performance indicators, a questionnaire and an internet based tool, which enables MFIs to measure and monitor their impact on the ground. It will also enable INAFI as a network to present a consolidated report of the achievements of the network on social performance.

About the Job :
For proper management of the SIM tool INAFI International is looking for a Global SIM Manager (GSM), who will be responsible for the supervision and management of the SIM system as a whole and support individual MFIs on the use of the tool. The position will be at senior management level. The GSM will report directly to the INAFI International executive director.

• Make arrangements for worldwide application of the tool :
  • Transfer of the system to a new server and agreements with the external server provider on guaranteed reliable and stable access, first, second and third line support and maintenance ;
  • Drawing up of procedures for repairing bugs ;
  • Arrange translation of all user manuals, implementation plans and other information in French and Spanish ;
  • Finalization of implementation plans ;
  • Finalization of agreements and procedures for maintenance of the tool with first, second and third line support ;
  • Finalization of SIM brochure and toolkit ;
  • Lead development of an improved version of reporting and make it available ;
  • Drawing up of a pricing strategy for the use of the tool by INAFI members and others ;
  • Drawing up of a legal policy (general conditions for the use of the tool).

• Manage the use of the tool :
  • Make sure that MFI users receive the necessary support on the use of the application ;
  • Keep the software running (24 hours per day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year) ;
  • Keep the software up to date ;
  • Manage design of new version of reporting tool (external organisation doing the design) ;
  • Manage the budget available for SIM ;
  • Ensure that interested MFIs receive information on the SIM tool ;
  • Ensure that new users receive instructions on the use of the tool ;
  • Ensure quality control of proposed translations of the questionnaire in local languages ;
  • Assign authorizations for the use of the SIM tool.
• Promote the use of the tool :
  • Make presentations and do promotion on the tool and methodology to INAFI members ;
  • Make presentations and do promotion on the tool and methodology to external parties ;
  • Develop promotional materials ;
  • Set up and maintenance of website with latest information about SIM tool.
• Develop and execute a strategy to raise funds to cover expected costs concerning the tool and methodology ;
• Make a plan for a new release of the SIM system (to be implemented in SIM phase 2).

• 5 – 10 years of experience in microfinance work, especially on social performance ;
• Good knowledge of the microfinance sector, preferably in various countries and different regions ;
• Management experience for more than 3 years ;
• Knowledge of information technology (hardware and software) ;
• Communication skills ;
• Promotion, marketing and fundraising skills ;
• Excellent command of English (speaking and writing) ;
• Preferably good command of an additional other major language ;
• He or she is an excellent networker.
