Mission
PlaNet Finance Advisory Services is seeking an experienced Microfinance Expert who will be responsible for providing tailored technical assistance and training services to NGOs, banks, government authorities and private sector partners. These services will focus on the design, promotion, implementation and evaluation of microfinance programs and projects, both in Egypt and across the Middle East region.

PlaNet Finance Advisory Services engages in both long-term projects with selected local partners, and short-term assignments in various countries throughout the Middle East. This diversity of tasks and objectives thus requires strong adaptation and organizational skills, versatility, and expertise across multiple domains.

The Microfinance Expert will be a valuable contributor and active member of PlaNet Finance’s fastgrowing Middle East team. The Microfinance Expert will participate in planning and executing PlaNet Finance interventions in Egypt and other countries within the Middle East, with activities including but not limited to the following :

• Provide training, coaching and workshop facilitation for field staff and management staff of Micro Finance Institutions (“MFIs”)
• Assist MFIs in their product development/adaptation process : develop prototype microcredit or adapt existing products specifications, financial projections, adapt/design manual of procedures and credit policies
• Conduct Institutional Assessments of MFIs and partner NGOs : financial analysis, HR and governance evaluation
• Support Microfinance Institutions in their strategic and business planning process
• Build local partners capacities in innovative financial services : group lending/individual loans, rural loans, housing loans as well as the development of new credit offerings such as clean energy and educational finance
• Conduct diagnostic about Micro and Small Enterprises (MSE) sectors in the Middle East region : assessment of demand and supply, policy and regulatory framework analysis, positioning of the different stakeholders…etc
• Advise microfinance networks, regulators and donors on the expected evolution of microfinance sector
• Contribute to the development and strengthening of cross-sectoral activities, within the PlaNet Finance Microfinance+ business line : including promotion and application of best practices, documentation of lessons learned and trends linking MF to livelihood issues, agro-enterprise, education, environment and other integrated programming initiatives
• Identify needs in the MF Sector in Egypt and potentially in the region and participating in the writing of adapted methodologies in proposals submitted to various donors, in coordination with Development Department
• Assist the Regional Director with the review and quality control of deliverables, research papers prepared, curriculum developed and technical assistance provided by PlaNet Finance in the Middle East.

• A minimum of 5 years of specific experience in SME and/or microfinance Fluency in English and Arabic – ability to work in both languages – (French is a plus)
• Ability to travel within Egypt and the region
• Academic degree in Economics, Management or Business Studies (Master Degree is a plus)
• Proven financial, administrative and logistic skills
• Flexibility, adaptability and reliability
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• The ability to work independently and with rigor
• Computer literate, organized and detail oriented
• Ready to integrate within a small, young, dynamic international organization
• Interested in economic and social development
• Knowledge in Islamic Banking will be a plus
