Grameen-Jameel Pan-Arab Microfinance Limited is a social business jointly owned by Grameen Foundation and Abdul Latif Jameel Group. The company’s core objective is poverty alleviation in the Arab world through microfinance.
Background
Bankers without Borders (BwB) is Grameen Foundation's global volunteer initiative to engage business professionals in skills-based volunteer projects that support MFI and other pro-poor organizations.
About the Job:
Grameen-Jameel Pan-Arab Microfinance Limited is looking for a Bankers without Borders Officer - MENA to support Grameen-Jameel in implementing the Bankers without Borders (BwB) program. S/he will be based in Dubai and will be reporting to program manager. S/he will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and monitoring volunteer projects in the MENA region. S/he will also develop corporate partnerships and liaise with international/regional/local sources of volunteers including but not limited to companies, banks, associations, microfinance clubs, and institutions of higher education.
Responsabilités :
- Manage a portfolio of BwB project activities with MFIs, local and regional microfinance networks, and other pro-poor organizations whose mission and interests are aligned with Grameen-Jameel’s;
- Build relationships with and actively educate local MFIs and microfinance networks about BwB;
- Review and respond to requests for support from Grameen-Jameel’s MFI partners and others;
- Conduct due diligence on potential BwB client organizations where appropriate, including preparing/reviewing due diligence reports in close coordination with the program team;
- Serve as primary liaison to and provide logistical support to volunteers assigned to BwB projects in the region;
- Cultivate regional/local sources of volunteers in the region;
- Perform monitoring and evaluation of ongoing BwB projects in the region;
- Obtain client feedback and document learning;
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of latest industry developments related to microfinance in all countries of responsibility;
- Represent Grameen-Jameel at microfinance related events such as seminars, conferences, trainings;
- Maintain working relationships and collaborate with other microfinance support organizations in the region;
- Complete all administrative tasks as required on a timely basis;
- Communicates all activities and challenges to management on a regular basis;
- Reporting to Grameen Foundation on a regular basis regarding BwB performance in the region;
- Other duties as assigned.
Compétences/qualifications/expérience :
- Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, International Development or other relevant subject;
- Minimum 5 or more years of work experience in related field. Master degree may require less experience;
- Microfinance experience preferred;
- International work or volunteer experience in emerging markets a plus;
- Fluency in spoken and written English, and fluency in French and/or Arabic;
- Experience in one or more of the following fields:
- Volunteer management;
- Project management;
- Customer relations;
- Marketing;
- Recruitment.
- Exceptional representational and customer relationship skills at the executive and decision-maker levels;
- Strong startup mentality;
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
- Ability to effectively communicate priorities, delivery expectations, risks and concerns to multiple stakeholders;
- Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects at the same time;
- Ability to work independently and interact with various levels of management;
- Ability to gain working knowledge of the fundamentals of the microfinance sector as well as understanding of the latest industry issues and trends;
- Commitment to eradication of poverty.
